An account of the resource
Ansonia is likely a reference to the hotel located at 2109 Broadway, New York, NY, 10023. <br /><br /><span>"The Ansonia opened in April of 1904. The total construction cost: $3 million. Considered the "grandest hotel in Manhattan," the Ansonia covered 550,000 square feet of space divided among 1,400 rooms, 300 suites, grand ballrooms, restaurants decorated in the style of Louis XIV, a palm court, tearooms and cafes, a bank, a barbershop and tailor, writing rooms, Turkish baths, and the </span><strong>world's largest indoor swimming pool</strong><span>. Not surprisingly, residents lived in opulent apartments with multiple bedrooms, dining rooms, parlors, and libraries and dined on meals prepared by professional chefs." A name given to the resource
Mountainville Train Station
Description
An account of the resource
The Mountainville Train Station became the Mountainville Library in 1939. These photos were taken in 2013, the library closed in 2000.
The following excerpt is from:
Cornwall Library, https://www.cornwallpubliclibrary.org/about-us/library-history/, accessed September 8, 2019.
Please note that it was the Erie Railroad not the O & R railroad as noted below.
"1921: A third library was opened in Mountainville by seven women. The library was in Orr’s store at first and later moved to Ketcham’s store. It was initially stocked by donations and cost $450 a year to run the library. They got $150 from the town and the rest of the money was raised by having cake sales and other events.
1939: When the O & R railroad stopped coming through Mountainville, Mr. Juenger bought the railroad station and gave it to the Mountainville Library.
Mid 50s: Both libraries from the town and the village applied for a new charter under which they became a single entity with 2 branches operated by one board of trustees. Mountainville decided to remain independent initially, but joined the system in 1967 when it became apparent that it was no longer financially feasible to run.
In 1999 the proposal to build the current building was approved and the building officially opened to the public on April 7, 2000. All three libraries moved into one."
